Hi

I have 2 Clown loaches

One has been acting strangely for the last 2 months.

He or She ( not sure which ) likes to lie on its side or upside down inside a rock cave, he dosent seem ill or have any visual marks on him
and eats normally and swims normally outside the cave

Any ideas ?

thanks

perfectly normal behavior. loaches are lazy but yet energetic fish, just depends which mood you happen to notice them in. in lazy mode you can always find them wedged in a tight crevice or hole, often twisted about; or you can find them in more open spaces laying on their side or at an angle, it can be quite entertaining watching them balance in the current :) you would probably notice more activity in their lives if you added more. loaches, including clowns, should be kept in groups of at least five (provided you have a large enough tank - i'd say at least 55gallons). these fish will always provide great antics :good:
