Strange bump/wound at base of pec fin on Angelfish

This morning I noticed a strange bump or wound at the base of one of my angelfish's pectoral fin. It almost looks to me like it's a wound with flesh coming out. The bumb is a whitish-pink with a red line running vertically on it, top to bottom. I've zoomed in and circled it in the pic. Any help with this is graetly appreciated. I just picked up a gorgeous 4 year old male angel to breed with this female.

I have a 10G I can put it in. I haven't seen melafix but I will look again. I know Clout is very easy for me to get ahold of. Could this help at all?

Well, I treated with melafix for 7 days. It looked like it got a bit better, but I can't be certain if there was any real improvement or if it just stopped getting worse for a bit. Last week I noticed something similar just starting on my male Angelfish, as welll the black females growth seemed to be getting bigger. I've isolated them in my 10G and I have been treating with Melafix for 5 days. As well, I added 2 tablespoons of aquarium salt to the 10G after my last water change a few days ago. The growths don't appear to be getting any better. The males is definately getting a little bigger. Sorry there's no pic's of him. He turns away everytime I try to get a pic. The female on the other hand pretty much posed for me. Both of these were taken today (Aug.18).

You can see the white growth at the base of one pectoral fin.

Does anyone know what this is that is effecting my angelfish? Is it fixable or contagious? Any help is appreciated...

(I think) and I am not trying to worry you... and this is just a wild guess... that this might be china disease, one of the deadliest diseases for fish. There is pretty much no cure. It is kinda like the opposite of finrot, where the growth starts at the base of the fin as opposed to the edge and slowly works it's way out, eating the fin and killing the fish. Once again, this is just a wild guess and I am not at all sure. Don't hold it against me if I am wrong. I read this in a book somewhere and it seems a lot like the description I read.

I got some pics of the white crap that is now too growing on the base of my male angel's pec fin. As well, for my 30G I just picked up a beauitiful pair of mature Kribs. The female stood out in the tank against close to 2 dozen other Kribs. She's got a bright yellow face, bright reddish-pink fat belly, blac dorsal fin with strilking yellow on the tips, and the tail looks like yellow flames or lightnigh against black. Unfortunately I realized a few hours after I had her home that she shad the same white crap at the base of one of her pec fin's. As soon as I noticed this I started to treat both tanks with melafix. The 2 angels and the female Krib seem healthy otherwise. The female Krib has taken to two flower pots hidden in the back corner while the male roams the bottom of the whole tank. I'm getting pretty frustrated with whatever ths is that effecting the pectoral fins of my fish. Has anyone ever had ths in their tank and successfully treated it?

Here's some pic's of the male angelfish. This one is just a closeup of him. If you look close you can see the white growth starting right where the pec fin meets the body.

Here's a pic of the female Krib still in a bag while she's being acclimated to my tank. I didn't realize she had this white thing on her pec fin until hours after getting her. I really don't want to part this this Krib and would much rather fix it.

EDIT** Thanks for the suggestion David, but I really hope you're wrong (no offense, of course). It's better than any guess of mine though.

Does anyone have any idea what this is that's growing on the base of the pec fins on a few of my fish? The growth on my black angel is quite noticably bigger to me now.

Only a possiblilty...run a search on board and/or the net for lymphocytis (-us?) or cauliflower disease.
Not sure...one of the pic's appears kinda fuzzy, which this shouldn't I don't think. From what I understand, it should look more like a cluster of warts. It's a virus. No proven treatmt...you may find a couple of suggestions if you look around, but nothing certain. From what I remember reading, the lumps may go away, or they may stay and the fish might live with it for a long time. Quarantine suggested. And clean water.

My pleco had what looked like a cluster of three warts, and the largest started to turn reddish. Not in the form of a line tho, like yours...perhaps that might signify something else. At any rate, I transferred him to a tank where the levels could be better maintained...not sure if I added Melafix at this time, think so tho. After a time, I checked him and saw that it appeared that it had fallen off, and he had a chunk missing from him, like a small gouge. continued/started Melafix at this time. It now appears to be gone. Can't say for sure that's what it was, but it's my closest guess.

The red line I originally mentioned cleared up in a few days with melafix, but the white growth remained and has since grown. Near as I can tell these growths aren't fuzzy. The cauliflower thing is the closest I've found searching, but I find trying to diagnose something I've only read about questionable since many ailments have similar descriptions. I'm continuing to treat the quarantined angels with melafix, and i've started treating my 30G with melafix anyways since it has a couple new occupants. In the 10G Q tank with the angels I've added 2 tablespoons of aquarium salt, but didn't want to put the Krib in there as it would have been her 3rd tank in a couple days (bought her and a mate yesterday, couldn't resist at $4 CAD each, cheaper than cory's). I haven't seen the salt fix anything yet, but for all I know this ailment isn't fixable....

Only other thing I could suggest is wc's to keep nitrates low as possible.
Yes, trying to diagnose disease w/out microscopes, etc....I think we're usu. left w/ our best educated-guess.

Thanks for the replies, all, and the compliments, lizard. As for the picture taking, I can't take all the credit for that. I use my angles to avoid bright reflections on the glass and occasioonally adjust the focus range, but other than that the pictures are usually so nice because I spoiled myself couple months back with a new sony P93 5.1MP digi with 3x optical zoom to replace my 1MP. It takes better pics than any 35mm I've seen. Well worth it in my oppinion. I've had some pics blown up to 18' with perfect crisp quality and colours. Here's one of may fave pic's from thsi camera, and here's another where a bird flew into frame right as I was taking the picture.

bigfish, tumours is something I suspected right away, but seeing how it is initially developing on my male angel, I don't think these are tumours. I think I'm going to put the pics on a disk or CD and bring them to my LFS owner. I know he often treats and some cases operates on koi for people. My descriptions of the problem haven't been able to give him any idea's, so I think showing him is the next thiong I can do. In the meantime, both tanks are being treated with Melafix.
