Stowaway danio

Hi there...well i got back form my Ifs earlier after finding out there was a poor little skunk loach all by himself and in bad shape...So as i have four of them already i took him home...As i put the bag in the tank to acclimate i see a stowaway obviously looking for a good home...I guess the Ifs person and myself didnt see him jump in the net ... So what is he..I've never really paid attention to danios....but if he needs buddies ill go get him some....

Hee hee. Zebra danio, brachydanio rerio, which I believe is an older classification? The Wolf'll swing by.

Yes, needs buddies, at least five more, though they are more fun to watch in bigger groups, IMO. Know where you'll house them?

Zebra's huh...they'll stay in this 50gal...i dont have a top dwelling fish and if they max out at 2-3" it'll be good.

i have 10 zebra danios and they zip around the tank and dont bother anyone else, although if the are kept singly or in a small group they may start to harass the other fish so best to get at least another 5

Provided you do not have skittish fish in the tank, like gouramis, you should be fine.

7+ would be good, and the more you have, the more movement you have.

For my latest plec and skunk i haven't.... But they come from an Ifs where i frequent often and know the owners/some staff personally. They would not sell a fish from a diseased tank and the owner takes testing aboive and beyond the call of duty.

1st episode of serise 10 of Jag

yes you have a ZD (danio rerio),
by the looks of it he is a juvinile long finned one too.

5 is the min# I'd recomend but the more the merrier.
also you can mix with other danios, like leopards (danio 'frankei' rerio),
pearls (danio albolineatus) etc.
Also ZD's come in a 'golden' from too
