what do you guys thinking about stovking a 55 gl, as follows

i prob got numebrs all worng that what i would like comments on#

7-8 tiger barbs
7-8 harliquins

2 angels
2 blue rams

3/4 otos
3/4 corries

compatable and how many of each??

OTP

7-8 tiger barbs
7-8 harliquins
I'd go with 12-15 of each

2 angels
2 blue rams
tiger barbs might nip those angels
blue rams are very sensitive to water conditions. I'd go with something else. Keyholes or bolivian rams would work out good, 4 or 5 of each

3/4 otos
3/4 corries
I'd skip the otos and get 2-3 bristlenose plecos instead, or rubbernose plecos.
You should also get like 7 or 8 cories.

Some people will say this is overstocking but I think it would work out nicely. The cichlids would have enough room for breeding and such, the barbs and harlequins would have plenty of room to swim in, so would the cories.

The plecos usually just stick to surfaces so don't take up much space, the species i recommended stay small too so they would be fine...

I have 10 full grown tiger barbs in my 55 gallon along with 6 full grown black skirt tetras and the tank seems pretty full and active all the time.

I would go with like 6 tiger barbs. The tigers may nip at anything with long fins including the angels.

Pesronally I dont like plecos, expect a zebra, and Id go with the otos and get 10-15 of them. As for the blue rams, get them. Just have a mature tank, which the otos need too, and they will be fine.

yeah thats what i was thinking frnak i don' like plecs eter, ugly little things!! well at least my idea wasn't ocerstocking whaoo more fish fr me!!!!

I have 3 angels along with a few tiger barbs in my tank (had more but forgot to feed my gar :() and if anything the angels give my tiger barbs hell. They are very inquisitive and always gently pecking anything that gets too close (except my gar and BGK of course lol)

ok slight change of plan, same tnak but now im thinking:

10 tiger barbs
10 harliquins
10 neons

6 cories
6 otos

what does that osund like to much, just right or nderstocked... i doubt that last one

edit oh yeah maybe 2-4 rams as well would they fit ok??
I would try what you mentioned before and then maybe wait until your tank establishes for the rams. I would only go for a pair MAYBE as they like lots of swimming space.

yeha they would be added last as i belive they need a matuer tank , prob even after the otos, any suggestions for what order to add them afetr fishless cycle

A few Tiger barbs and neons and cories, then rasboras then the rest of the group of cories and barbs and neons, then ottos then rams
maybe but I don't think it matters a whole lot

I would say introduce your barbs and rasbora first, they are the hardiest of the fish you intend on buying. Introduce, say, five barbs one week, then another five barbs a week later. Same, then, with the rasbora and then let the tank settle for a couple of weeks or so. By this time the tank will have matured for a couple of months and you can introduce your cories. I would not add neons, rams or Otos until the tank has matured for at least six months.

Good luck! :)
