i have a 200 litre and have 7 blackwidow tetra, 6 tiger barbs, 2 yoyo loach, blue acara, 1 golden ram and 2 bolivian rams is this overstocked from what i have read all these fish go together is that right?

Hi Mark,

I do not think you are overstocked.

Have your water stats remained stable with this load of fish in the tank?
How long has the tank been running?

My own limited experience with my one year old tank is that the more mature the tank got (probably the two filters), the more stable my water stayed, and I was able to stock more fish than I expected to. In my 98 litre tank I have:

4 Bolivian Rams
4 Neon Tetras
4 Peppered Cory
3 Glofish
2 Guppies
2 Zebras
1 Gourami

That's 40 inches of fish in 26 gallons, and my water stats are rock solid.

Kinda depends on the lengh of your tank so they won't fight but other wise you can get more fish mate :)

Be careful with the Acara - IMO they aren't community fish as they're aggressive sods. Rehoming him will open up your stocking options somewhat.

the tank is 3 foot and water stats are always stable and i have been keeping an eye on the acara i will just watch him and see what happens so far he has been fine.

the tank is roma 200, 100 x 40 x 55 cm could i get anymore fish in there

i have decided to move the black widow and have 2 angelfish instead will there be any room to get another 4 barbs to take them to 10 or am i overstocked?

Please don't add two angels. First of all, unless they are a mated pair, the most dominant fish will kill the other one; angels need to be kept as single fish, mated pairs or in groups of 6+. Second, it's a bad idea to try keeping angels in a tank with tiger barbs; even though you've got group of tigers, the slow swimming, long-finned angel will be too much temptation and the barbs will bully, nip or otherwise harrass it.

You could add another 4 tigers if you get rid of the black widows,

The problem with your tank is that it's very short and deep. I know people often go on about '1 inch of fish per gallon' (I do myself!) but the real limiting factor is surface area; your tank can't be as heavily stocked as one that is longer and shallower.

i already have the angels and i know about them needing to be a pair im going to keep an eye on them then if they do start fighting i will take one out.I have read about keeping tiger barbs and angels together there a quite a few people that do it with a group of tiger barbs.
