My tank is still in the process of cycling so it will be awhile till I actually get any new fish but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions.

It is a 20 gallon with a gravel bottom right now it has 5 platys, 3 mystery snails and a ramshorn snail.

So what would you reccomend? :D

i'd say it depends on your preferances. if you want colourfull fish get some neons or barbs they are pretty :)

If you have smooth, rounded gravel, I'd go for a 3-5 cories. Also, I second omega59... a good group of neons or cardinals would be nice, especially in a planted tank.

yep definatly cardinal tetras. feed them well and you will have amazing colours. i have 5 in a 20g tank. Also a pair of neon gouramis might look nice.

I would put 3-4 cories (maybe Juliis), a shoal of cardinals or neon tetras, and a pair of ram cichlids. A nice South American biotope!

Don't put a pair of neon gouramis as these dwarf gouramis are prone of diseases, and do not do well in pairs because of the hassling of the male towards the female. In gouramis trios are preferred.

The gravel I have is very smooth, and it is covered in resin, so I don't think it could do too much damage.

Oh and one other thing I forgot to tell you guys. I have quite high PH, around 7.5. Is there a product I could use to help this, and would it affect the snails? Or should I just leave it as is?

i dont think you should use any products that say they will change your ph. It might cause a ph crash. With a ph that high, i think you should get neons instead of caridnals (if you wanted one or the either in the first place) because more cardinals are wildcaught and need a low ph while neons have been captive bred for a long time and so has hardened to higher ph levels ^^

Thanks :D I'll just try t ofind fish that are more sutiable to the higher PH :)

So far on the list:

4 Cories
5? neon tetras

and of course my 5 platys and snails.
