What do you think? Can I keep these three together happily?
I have heard all three suit a lower PH water is this true. I would have liked some Platies but apparently they need a higher PH?

Hello!!
I keep corys with tetras and have no problems at all. Both just mind there own business. Ive heard different things about platys and salt. But, corys cannot have salt in their aquarium because they don't have scales... So you may need to get some different opinions on the platys and salt. :/
Hope this is helpful! Corys are great!
I do not know much about the Rams, but I have heard they are peaceful/community fish.

yeah you can i do :D

iv got

6 neon tertas
10 harliquins
3 albino corys
2 panda corys ( was 3 but 1 died yesterday :( )
2 German Blue Rams (1 x male 1 x female)
3 Otto's

They all get on great

I wanted to get some rams but apparently they require soft water, PH 5-6 and my water isn't that low in PH. Platys I understand need a higher Ph 7-8 and soft to hard water. I haven't kept any myself so you may want to check with someone who has.

You can get away with a ph of up to 7 / 7.2 with rams m8, i tested the water mines came in at that was 7, my tank water is around 6.8 at the moment and there doing great :D

if your ph is higher you could get bolivian rams as there not as fussy

I didn't realise that Bolivian Rams weren't fussy, I was told they were all the same. I might just have to get myself some of those!

bolivians are still fussy but not as fussy as the german blue.

Edit: also cories dont do well with rams. cichlids such as rams have been known to harm cories and even if they seem ok the cories will be frightened of the rams and will live forever stressed

from what iv read its only when there breeding that they can become aggressive , last night i watched one of my rams sit with a Cory pecking on an algae wafer lol

Thanks for all the feedback :)

I had an encounter before where my tetras were attacking Cory's, I would hate for this to happen again :(
I had 2 x Beunos Aries tetra and 3 x X-ray tetra and 3 x blindcave fish (I took over someone elses tank)....I added four Cory's and they were terrified after a few days :( If I get tetras again I will most probably go for Neons and I have heard they are quite good community fish :)

Hi,

I have 5 neon Tetra's living with 6 of my Cory Cat's and they all get along fine. The Neons tend to ignore them.

i want some tiger Barbs next but i know they can be aggressive so not too sure. Although i know if you keep at least 6 of them they will be less aggressive so not too sure yet.

if this is for you 12gallon tank you cant have rams not only the cory thing but for rams its 1 pair per 20gallon tank. Also i reccomend cardinals a lot stronger than neons and not prone to NTD.

Hi there,

Why is that, do they need a lot of space or do they just grow really big? :S

I have a pair of Butterfly Rams and they don't bother anything. They mind their own business. Not had them for a great deal of time but so far they seem absolutely fine.

What if I put the other fish in first and then added the Rams would they be less territorial?
