I’ve FINALLY got my 60 gal tank in the works. So I made a stocking list:

Pair of German blue rams
6 cherry barbs
5-6 white skirt tetras
3 pearl gouramis
1 rainbow shark (that I’m acquiring from a friend who isn’t keeping him properly)
My common pleco (who will be moving over from the 55 to free up space in there)

What do you guys think? I spent quite a bit of time trying to make a list where I felt the fish where compatible and pretty.

Hi this sounds good just the rams I think would be an issue as they really need soft water and have some other requirements like high temperatures that the other fish wouldn’t do well in.

The rest of the fish would do best in neutral water - do you know what yours is like?

I’d up the schools to 8 of each too.

Yes! My water is very very soft, but my PH is 8.5 and does not vary. I’ve seen several threads on the GBR where folks where keeping them in water like mine just fine as the GH seems to effect them more than PH. I currently house a tank full of tetras as well as a gourami and a few others that are all thriving in my water. I assumed similar fish would also do well. The only wild cards are the barbs and shark because I haven’t had fish like them before.

STAY AWAY from any of the "skirt" tetras, they're nippy, they'll harass those gouramis to no end...go with phantom tetras (black, red, or yellow) instead, prettier than the skirts (IMO), and great community fish, no nipping...

Good to see another fellow Texan join the forum.... ;)

Really? I’ve never had an issue with my skirt tetras.... I have 5 black skirts in my 55 and they are so slow and lazy. My dwarf gourami actually chases them sometimes. My Buenos Aires tetras are the nippy chasers of the bunch that harass everyone... but I’ll def look into the ones you suggested!

Yes, the skirts are known for nipping, especially in small schools, you must have lucked into a docile bunch, lol

Do look at the phantoms, I love mine, I've kept both the blacks and the yellows, here's a short vid of my blacks
