So finally my fish killing spree is over and my tank seems to be fully cycled and now I am looking for some good ideas on what to add to fill it out a bit

right now I have 1 zebra danio ( 2 of them died) which is about 2"
1 sunburst platy also about 2"
3 neon tetras all about 1"

so by my figures that is 7" of fish in a tank that can hold 20" without overstocking

I thought maybe I should buy at least 2 more tetras ( to have a small school) but I don't really want to

here is a pic of the tank, it is fully planted

maybe some corys a bristle nose plec.? maybe a german blue ram though im not sure bout there compatibility with those fish. maybe a baloon molly.

More neons for sure, 6-8 total would be nice. And 4 corys for the bottom. I would add those and then give it some time before adding anything else.

don't corys get tio be 3" so if i did that i would have a total of 24" of fish in a 20 gal tank?????????????

That's correct, but it does not mean you are overstocked.

Don't get me started on the 1"/gal thing!

you can go over the 1'' per gallon there is a formula somewhere for length of fish but i lost it :/ also cories grow to 5/6cm so 2.5 inches

I would like to know if you have a difference of opition and why, becuase when I had my many fish deaths the one thing everyone kept saying is that I was overstocked ( 3 mollies, 5 platies, 5 neon tetras) in that same 20 gal tank

Panda corys stay small. I know you don't want to, and I've gone through this situation before, but you need some more neon tetras and zebra danios. Tell us what kind of fish you like and we can help you further.

I want some colorful fish, the neons are cool but they are really small, what I was thinking of getting off the bat was 3 more neons becuse I want them to be happy and they are only happy in schools and maybe another zebra that would add about 5.5-6 " of fish bringing me to 12.5 or so I would like to add something that can be alone to add some verity, the platy seems happy alone, i donno if I am just missreading her though?????????/

I would do:

6 neons -6"
1 sunburst platy -2"
3 panda corys -7.5"
3 zebra danios -6"

That puts you at 21.5 which isn't the end of the world. Just keep in mind that if you're inch/gallon is off by a small amount like 1.5" the tank isn't going to spontaneously combust...
