So far in my 75 gallon...I have 2 silver dollars, 1 blk phantom tetra, 1 buenos aires tetra, 2 pink danios, 2 krib cichlids protecting 9 fry, (but i plan to move them when they are big enough to my 10 gallon) 2 EBJD's , and 2 plecos. After I move the kribs...and danios might go with them...I want to possibly add some smaller, not too aggressive cichlids. My question...will the tetras n silver dollars be able to hold their own??

Any ideas on some cool and compatible cichlids? I also wanna do a cetopsis shark...

You'll most likely have to remove everything but the SD's and the plecos, and i think our overestimating your stocking a bit by even considering a Cetopsis which at any rate won't work with this stock and/or tank size.

What are the dimensions of the tank? you may get away with adding one more cichlid but there is no guarantees

I do not think a cetopsis catfish is a good choice for yours (or any tank for that matter). They won't work with any other fish.

It is also likely that the silver dollars will eat any of the tetras and danios when they mature.

The dimensions are 48x18x21....The guy at the lfs told me otherwise ab the cetopsis. How long would it take to outgrow my tank?

Assume I forget about the cetopsis..and am only left with my silver dollars and EBJD's. What other cichlids are compatible? My next ideas were a really small jack dempsey, or maybe some rams or apistogrammas?

what is a "really small jack dempsey"?
they will all grow to the same size.
also, the jack dempsey will end up eating the tetras, danios, and kribs.
not to mention that youre tank is way too small for that stock.

A cetopsis would wipe out your other fish and that is why it would not be a good idea to mix them,

As said above you may get away with one smaller cichlid in your tank which is approx 80USG but then again it might go terribly wrong, I would personally stick with the EBJD pair, along with some dithers, But if you wanted to add another cichlid then i would go for a species that won't surpas 5 inches, so that gives you the option of a Convict, Firemouth, Sajica or Rainbow

Rams and apistos would be killed

thanks for the advice....but i am really suprised to see the advice in comparison to my local fish shop. What would kill the rams and apistos? U dont think a firemouth or convict is too aggressive ?

Umm, You have two Jack Dempseys????, just because they are all blue and pretty doesn't mean they going to play nice,

a pair of 3-4 inch rams would be in great trouble if they were housed with 2 potentially 8-10inch EBJDs

Don't get me wrong, jd's are not as bad as some of their bigger meaner cousins, but the will terrorize those little dwarf cichlids.

maybe my problem is im not thinking long term....my apt im in is on a month to month basis so theres a good chance i might have to move the tank within the next few months...so all this is kinda temporary...plus I have 220 gallon in my backyard that Im gonna set up, but gonna prob wait untill im in a stable apt, cause that will be a ***** to move. So by the time my electric blues are 8-10 in they will most likely be in my 220 gallon. my ebjd's are only about an inch and half max now and at the moment get bitched around by the kribs....prob just because they are aggressive during breeding thou.
