Stocking Ideas For A 40 Gallon

so i have everything set up,
4 rummy nose tetras
12 harlequin rasboras
12 glow light tetras
1 dwarf gourami
1 gold gourami
1 balloon ram
6 panda cories

it seems to me that the balloon rams and dwarf gouramis are more sensitive than fish im used to, so i only have 1 left( maybe its just my water ph or kh or something). I just got a gold gourami today so we'll see how that goes. any advice or suggestions for other types of fish that would work better as centerpiece.

I brought two gold gouramis last weekend and within 4 days they got aggressive and killed all 8 of my tetras my 5 harlequins and a few other little fish. They can become very territorial and are slightly aggressive. I would advise that you watch them closely and see what happens but generally they grow to almost 6" and smaller fish are kept at an arms length from where they want to be.

Just so you know this is in a 90gallon tank for comparison. The only other fish that I have in there are 3 shrimp that came with my tank as well as 4 bristle-nose catfish with one other species of 5 that I don't know that are just a little bigger than tetra size with black & yellow fins.

So I have got half as much stock in a tank twice your size with the golds being the problem.

Hope it works out for you with the gold and let us know how you get on.

Kind Regards,

Adam

yeah i suppose just about 16 days, but i do also have a pretty good amount of plants. i will be watching the golden gourami to see his behavior, but as of now he doesnt seem to be too aggressive. btw i believe any type of lobster, cray fish would be a bad idea right, considering i do have live plants
