I recently acquired a 3 gal tank and was wondering what types of creatures I could keep in it. I was told African Dwarf Frogs and a Betta would be best, but I'd like something a little more lively if possible. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated :)

One betta would be fine, with heating and filtration. I don't know much about frogs, but I think frogs AND a betta is a little too much for a tank that size. Shrimp and/or snails are also an option, and you can have several shrimp in a small tank because of their light bio-load. I am not a shrimp person though so someone else can talk to you about that if you like that idea.

A school of daphnia?

Welcome to the forum SquillKM.

Daphnia Goat? That is fish food in my home and requires intense lighting to grow the green water to feed them.
For a 3 gallon, why not look at some of the nano-fish. I keep Heterandria formosa, at under an inch for both sexes, in tiny tanks and the colony breeds out of control. Another good fish for small quarters is the golden teddy, Xenophallus umbratilis. Right now my avatar is a male teddy. If you do not insist on fish, the freshwater shrimp can be used in tiny tanks.

Oldman47, a school of daphnia was my way of suggesting that 3 gallon is not really suitable/fair for any fish ;)

heated and filtered (you can even easily make your own sponge filter) it would be fine for a single betta and a few shrimp.
cheers

Thanks for the suggestions, and yes it is heated and filtered. Would different types of nano-fish be something that I could find easily or would I have to order them?
