Hi guys,

I have a 45 gallon aquarium. I currently have only 4 fish (all mature and won't grow any more) 1 very small Clown Loach, 1 Angelfish and 2 Cherry Barbs. I probably have room for a few new additions but looking at the fish compatibility charts, there are pretty much no options for different fish types that I could add which are compatible and won't grow too large, although I guess many fish won't grow too large in a 45 litre (such as my little Clown Loach).

Does anyone have an stocking suggestions?

*Edit - 45 gallon not litre

the clown loach needs a 55g tank and the angles need a 18" tall 20g tank so they will have to go. i would up the cherry barbs to 6 get 6 corys and i honey gourami.

we the only reason there small is because you have stunnted them because the tank is to small.

stunting is a iffy topic...most fish have been said to be able to stop them selves growing and then resume when space allows them to
ok but the tank is still to smalll for them and clown loaches need to be kept in groups.

Have to agree with Kizno.
Whats the point of fish-keeping if not to see your fish grow to their full potential?

Agreed divegirl, dezmass I appreciate how you feel about your fish having had them for years, the only guys are mearly trying to point out that clown loaches are supposed to over time reach at least 16 inches (and more often over 25 inches given the right space) and should be in groups.

As truckasaurus mentionned, there is talk that they restart growing if put in a bigger tank, but there is also information all over this site about the effects stunting can have on the organs, and also significantly reducing the life span of fish.

Dude, theyre only trying to offer good advice x

That's all well and good Truck....but come on! Do you think it's right to keep a Clown Loach in 45l? My Bettas are in bigger tanks than that!!!!
Anyway....the OP is off-line now.....so obviously isn't listening.....ho hum

I just agree with the following statement - "Whats the point of fish-keeping if not to see your fish grow to their full potential?"

think that says it all
