I know someone who got a 7L fishbowl. Having talked him out of getting a GOLDFISH I'm looking for suggestions as to what fish can be kept in it -no shrimps or snails, he wants a fish. I suggested a betta.

Also, what type/make of filter would you suggest for such a tiny bowl?

you cannot put a filter or a heater too small just get a betta its the best fish for it and you don't need a filter or a heater for a betta :good:

I'm afraid you do need a filter and heater for a Betta and 7 litres is too small for any fish. :/

Errggghhh... no its not.

A betta living in 7L is not ideal and especially it being a bowl. The minimum tank IMO a betta can go in is 10L and thats a regular tank not a bowl.

I think its too small for any fish.

Is that even big enough for flowers?

At the most I would suggest putting this into the bowl...

Possibly some form of micro-rasbora, but even then 7 litres is pushing it.

Some nano fish are listed here, most will need some form of heater though.

I currently have a single rainbow fish fry growing out in my 8 litre tank by accident! I was brought in on a plant as an Egg. He is doing well, and about an inch in length. He will be moving to a trap in my main tank once he is a bit bigger :)

Or some of these Link lol

Haha that's what I was looking for !!! I couldn't find them so I had to resort to the rubber ducky.

Oh my god the description on that site is horrific, the spelling mistakes the grammar Wow.

Oh, and another thing to note is that the bowl will suffer from low oxygen levels if you fill it up to the narrow neck. It is best to only fill a non-filtered bowl to just over halfway to maximise the surface area available for gaseous exchange.

I run a HOB and a heat mat for my 8 litre tank, and that is just about suitable for a couple of fry, or nano-fish, provided I do Bi-weekly 25% water changes.

If he absolutely has to use such a tiny bowl, go for a couple feeder guppies. It's still a really small bowl, but they cost pennies and they're about as close to indestructible as you can get with fish. I've heard of them being accidentally forgotten on a shelf in those plastic cups pet stores use to move fish from the tank to a bag long enough that they actually breed in there.
