I'm hoping to pick up a large 6ft tank (500l) for christmas and eventually would like to transfer my current 2ft stock to it and add some more -

total eventual stock list -

8x Golden barbs
7 x Zebra Danios
2x Kribensis
1 x Red Tailed Shark
3 x Dwarf Gourami

is there any conflicts there? Anything else I could add - shoaling or feature?

I'm looking for any suggestions. I'm planning on having the tank heavily planted for about half the tank (gouramis, shoaling fish), and some nice rocks/caves territory for the kribs/RTBS. Good idea?

Also some ideas on flow rates - which fish enjoy fast flowing water/airstones? I'll be using the 2ft/60L as a quarantine tank/breeding tank.

with a tank like that you have loads of options and i do mean loooooooads lol. you will probably find it a nightmare deciding on the final stocking. what are the tank dims? 500l sound a conservative volume for a 6 footer. i have a 456l/100g which is 4x2x2 .why not leave current tgank as it is and have a whole new stock for your big tank?

to give you an idea of what is possible for your tank here is my current stocking

1 red stripoed severum ( as seen in my avatar )
1 blue acara
1 pictus catfish ( soon to ad another )
1 gibicep plec
1 zebra angel
1 golden marble angel
6 bosemani rainbows
2 kribs
3 clown loaches

i wish i had the space for a 6ft tank... *bitter* :p

i'm sure you could get a lot more fish in a tank that size, most of the fish are pretty small (not sure about golden barbs though, if they're massive i apologise :p)

the RTBS will deffo need a cave as he gets bigger but with a tank that size i'm sure territory won't be much of an issue.

I would probably add a couple of the smaller plecs and / or loads of corys! :D

or depending on the dimensions of the tank you should be able to fit a bunch of larger, friendly fish in, alongside the small ones, eg clown loaches?

but like the poster above said, with a large tank like that you could pretty much fit anything you wanted in it (within reason, obviously :p)
