hi,i have a 55 gallon malawi tank at present and am now buying a 100 gallon (5ft long) i have reserved 2 x 6 inch senegals at the lfs.what else would you put in with them that is different/interesting/possible to actually get.thanks in advance.

hi,i've kept a fire eel in the past and it was stunning.the knife fish are not really my cup of tea.anyone else.ps thanks cane76 :good:

how does 2 x 6 inch senegals,2 x black ghost knifes and a semaprochilodus taeniurus sound ?????do you think it would work?????if not, what else would you add with the 2 x senegals????
are there any snakeheads that would work with the 2 x senegals????thanks in advance.

lol, now you want 2

anyways, i heard its not a good idea to keep two BGKs together as they navigate via electrical pulses and they may interfere with one another ;)

channa bleheri
(the rainbow snakehead) should work with polypterus :)

to be honest, the snakeheads would be much more appealing to me then the bgk's.where could i buy some rainbow snakeheads???? i have never seen any locally.how many would work???? would you suggest 2 snakeheads and the 2 senegals????could anything else go in with them????

www.trimar.co.uk :)

you cold have all manner of large fish with snakeheads/senegals

oscars would work a treat, as long as they are big when you buy them

adult altum angels, adult angels, most big or tall fish :) big enough not to be seen as a snack..

trying to get on trimars web page at the moment.been having trouble all day geeting on the trimar site.trimar is only 30 mins drive from my house.

you could have:

the larger syno' cats
Large Clownloaches
platydoras costatus
Plecs - common, sailfin, BN's

Pretty much anything that will not fit in its mouth when they are full length. I actually have an albino tiger barb and two fully grown platies in with my seneglaus, but they wont be able to stay there as when the polypterus gets bigger it will prob eat them. I have a BN in with mine, along with a large clownloach and a playdora

The only prob I can see with keeping snake heads with the senegalus is that snakeheads have lots of teeth and like to use them. Even the rainbow, sop I have been informed, is best kept on its on, as I wanted one to go with my senegalus.

100 gallon now not happening.arrived yesterday, put it in place, not enough room.so i will be keeping my 55 gallon.

I am really surprised!

Didn't you measure the space that you were going to put it in before you actually bought the tank?

its from my brother in law.yes i measured.it was touch and go.its at the bottom of the stairs so with the 100 gallon in place,it was a bit short on room for getting up the stairs lol.what can i add besides my 2 senegals????

most tpes of eel would go with senegals (IME), also sailfin pleco lives with a birchir in a friend of mines tank. I would imagine that birchirs would be okay with most non aggresive cichlids.

did u not read my post up there?

most fish can like with polyterus as long as they are TOO big to fit in their mouths. I did a lot of research on the same subject you are asking questions about before I bought me senegalus

and erm, non agressive cichlids? are there any?
