Hi ive got a 4ft tank just wondering if this stocking is good and if my plans to add are ok within my stock

Current Stocking
  • 6 Guppies
  • 1 Molly
  • 1 Angel Fish
  • 3 Platys
  • 2 Diamond Tetras
  • 1 Common Pleco (i do know about how big it will grow was miss sold it)
  • 1 Zebra Danio (did have 6 a few died off awhile ago in another tank)

I will be rehoming the zebra danio (if anyone around Wakefield wants him pm me)

what i am wanting to add
a small school of rummy nose
extra diamond tetras

ive got a APS 1000EF Plus filter, under gravel filter, 300w heater, and 30cm air stone
oh and LED lighting multiple colours
the fish are all quite happy, no illness as of yet (touches wood), even have a few platy fry (in a separate tank)
btw thanks for all the other replies :)

Maybe get another angel fish and 3 more tetras, Maybe 3 more danio's.

Don't add another angel.

A few more diamond tetras and danios - or, if it were me, return these. They need to be in groups of 6 plus.

Common plec aside(!), not too bad.

No guppys mollies or platies. I wouldn't keep any livebeaers at all because they have been bred so much they have lost their natural elegance and spend their entire lives just begging. To newbies (myself included at one point) this begging looks like the fish is trying to interact but it is just begging which is pretty much all they do.

Oh and livebeaers will stay pregnant/produce live fry for upto and including 6 months after they breed. Dropping babies at will long after you remove the males. which may sound like fun but may quickly turn into a chore.

As you can tell I'm not the biggest livebeaer (aka aquatic rats) fan on the board so my advice stems from that. But stock whatever is most appealing to you.

I've got a tank full of livebearers and they don't spend their day begging at all. If I go to the tank they come up to the surface but that is it.
I also disagree regarding their elegance. Mine are lovely looking fish and all the others I've seen have also been good looking.
I'd be happy to carry on keeping nothing but platies because of the variety in colours you can get and they are happy laid back fish
The guppies are more hyper than the platies so it depends on what you like.
