Hello! I'm currently cycling my 10 gallon tank, but I wanted to ask what you guys think of the fish I'm planning to put in it, since I'm pretty new and not sure if I'm overstocking/creating issues. I was thinking:

1 honey gourami
10 ember tetras
Some cherry shrimp, not exactly sure how many yet.

Would 10 ember tetras be too many? How many shrimp would be appropriate? The tank only has 2 plants right now, but I'm planning to get more once my LFS is open again. The temperature is 78 degrees F, and the water is quite soft. Any help or input would be appreciated, thank you!

Sounds like a good stocking choice, however I do know that shrimp like mineral rich water. So I'm not sure what the soft water would do.

I have soft water, and my shrimp thrive...soft doesn't necessarily mean low calcium ;)

I'm not sure I'd try a HG in a tank that small, but the embers & shrimp would work just fine...I currently have a 10G set up with embers, white cloud mountain minnows, and multitudes of Neocaridina shrimp...heavily planted

If you went with just embers (and shrimp), you could keep 15

Cherry shrimp (Neos) don't produce a huge amount of bioload, and will reproduce readily...fun, easy beginner shrimp
