Since 5 out of 6 of my rams have died due to what appeared to be bacterial related problems I decided to take my remaining ram back to my lfs. After having a long chat with the owner of my lfs we came to the conclusion that since I am doing all the right things (water changes, treating water act) and all my other fish are fine, we think rams just don't agree with my tank.

Sooo, Ive got to decide what else to get. I can't decide whether to maybe get pearl gouramis or tempted by live hears of some kind. It's a peaceful community tank. So any ideas? :/

Some swardtails, mabe a school of tetras or some kind

Have got some neons alhtough i want to up the numbers a bit.

I like the look of the pearl gouramis, however i do like the idea of raising fry. Howver never having done so before i am looking for a little advice :/ dont really know what kinda live bearers to go for, and how easy it is to control ie- will i just end up with a tank full of them?! lol

You could try putting guppies in their they like rabbits hahahaha

Swordtails usually eat their own fry so might not get overrun by those. You can separate a few fry though if you catch some survivors or notice the drop.

Lol thanks for try advice everyone. Keep it coming :D any advice on gouramis? How many would be good in my size tank?

Not sure if they'd like it but... sparkling gouramis?
As long as your tank isn't in your bedroom, because they might start singing...

Dwarf gouramis nice fish
Thanks. I think I'm going to go with the pearls in the end. Just picked up 5 red phantoms today and if all goes well I plan to get the gouramis next weekend :)

Another shout out for the dwarf gourami. Until recently I would never have considered them, but it was suggested to me on this forum recently. They're very interesting fish. My other fish just swim around randomly, but with my DG you can tell he's thinking about things. It's quite amusing to watch.

I would not be satisfied with the "Rams are don't agree with your tank" comment, but that's just me. I do like Pearl Gouramis. They have always been one of my favorites. Make sure you get a male/female pair. The fully colored up males are nice. I would be wary of the livebearers. I thought it would be a good idea to keep some platies in my community tank. I figured it would be a source of live food for the other fish. Amazingly, some fry always escape being eaten by the Neons,Ram,Dwarf Gourami, and adult platies. The platies are now overrunning the tank in their attempt at world domination!
