A friend of mine has sold his tank and given me his 6 neons. I am going to be putting them in a 10 gallon planted as all of my other aquariums are fully stocked. However, I want to put together a small community tank with the tetras. This is what I have come up with:

6x Neon Tetras
1x Sparkling Gourami
4x Pygmy Corys

Any suggestions?

I wouldn't do the gourami. It seems like a lot. You might be able to get away with the neons, but I think they might need a larger tank.

I'm cycling a 10 gallon with now for 6 pygmy corys and a male betta. I think if you take out either the gourami or the corys then you should be fine. I've never kept a sparkling gourami before. I had a powder blue dwarf with 6 neons in a 10 gallon and they got along pretty well.

Accepted wisdom is that neons need something bigger than a 10G, because of their activity levels, but you have them, and have nowhere else to put them, so we need to work around that absolute factor

IMHO, the tank as per your suggestion is rather overstocked. Cories need to be in a group of 6 to feel comfortable anyway, so if you drop those from your plans, you'll have a decent enough tank. JUst be aware that the neons might get nippy.

Are 6 neons really gonna overstock one of your other tanks dangerously? If they are already heavily stocked then yea sure set up another tank with the advice above but if just nicely stocked I highly doubt 6 neons are gonna add a huge bio load to any tank.
