A while back I was at work and walked downstairs (my office building is connected to a mall, and yes I go to the petstore too often 
) to the mall and saw one of those little kioske things that were selling bettas in those little plastic "all inclusive habitats" 
. Anyway, I saw this cute double tail/VT betta in one and wanted just the betta. I asked the guy running the kioske if there was a possibility of me buying just the betta. Needless to say, he looked at me like I was a lunatic because I didn't want their crap container. I then contemplated just buying one so I could just get the betta, but when I asked the price I was astounded! He wanted 
$20(USD) for a betta in a container that was the size of a supersized fry container 
...
Anyway, I just wanted to share my experience w/ everyone...
