Soooo where to begin... well my boyfriend has had this tank set up for a little over a month. The tank contains a Polypterus, fine sand for substrate, a plastic lizard cave (for the Polypterus to hide in) and two aquarium heaters. The Teacup Stingray was added about a week ago, and not only has the Polypterus taken a bite out of it already, but now its skin is starting to peel in two places on his back.
My boyfriend absolutely loves his fish, but this stingray is stressing him out so much, he is considering giving it up...
PLEASE HELP! :(

is he new to the hobby? has he ever seen the ray feed? in the shop? can you get a pic? was the tank cycled? how big is the tank? and what are the water parameters?

answer all questions in as much detail as possible

The nitrites and nitrates were a bit high, so he did a 50% water change. The ray has been seen eating. The tank is 55 long, and the ray is about 4 inches in diameter. I'm trying to get a picture, but he's covered in sand at the moment...

55 long in cm or inches.
Do you know how many gallons the tank is.
The skin peeling then because of bad water quality.

The tanks abit on the small size.
Some sites say 55 gallons ok some say 150 gallons, 250 gallons.
I think you will get more help by posting in the right part of the forum.
I would do some water changes.
Just copy and paste your thread to the right section of the forum.

The tank is way too small for long term and the bichir tankmate is not suitable if it has already had a go at the ray.
what are the exact numbers for nitrate, nitrite and ammonia
