I was thinking of changing the filter I currently have in my tank to something (hopefully) quieter. I had heard that these are pretty much silent, and one of my friends also had one, and when I came to see the tank I asked 'Is it on?', so I'm hoping they'll be pretty quiet
I was just wondering if anyone had any reviews on it? I'd really be interested in any information you have on it :)
Thank you!

IME and IMO, they are one of the worst filters on the market. The room for media is so small, the inlet at the back will suck small fish into it. You're better off getting one of the fluval U series or an Ehiem Aquaball.

i got one with my 60l, i found that fish got sucked into a gap in the back

you could fill the gap with sponge though i reckon

Ah, okay. Are both those filters quiet? That's one of the main reasons I'm looking for a new filter. My current one is just a little too noisy.

Ohh no :( I hope the fish were okay!
Alright, that sounds good. I'll keep looking into them :good:

E- After looking through a few reviews it seems that it doesn't actually do a very good job of cleaning the tank anyway. I'm looking at a Fluval U2 now. I'll take a look at some reviews in a second! :)

As above, they don't hold a lot of media, I have also heard a lot of horror stories about fish getting stuck behind them , as mentioned,,,

Ignoring the fact the fish are likely to get trapped behind them...

The filter its self is of a very very poor design, my stingray 15 has never worked properly as the case fails to seal properly, what happens when the case doesn't seal? The entire flow of water bypasses all filter media and goes straight through the pump leaking in through every unsealed part of the case.

As a result you get a rather unsightly powerhead.

Fluval u1 however is a fantastic filter, in fact I absolutely love the entire Fluval U series, they're great :good:

I'm currently looking into a fluval u2 :D

Agree, Fluval U-series filters :good:

Ahh, thank you!
Since everyone seems to be recommending fluval U series' then it looks like that'll be what I'm getting!

The Fluval U2 has more media capacity though obviously much bigger than the U1, if you are around 55litres + I would suggest Fluval U2 and then anything bigger for bigger tanks. Anything under 55 I would say a Fluval U1 would be great, just make sure you keep up with filter maintenance by simple squeezing the sponge on each water change, since it's a solid block of sponge it clogs quite easily if you don't clean it. Reliable though!
