Just wondering if other peoples Sterbais are nocturnal.

Ive had mine over a week and while they are healthy and eat at night, they hide and never appear all day (light off and on) and only get active from 11pm onwards.

all my cory's seem to be active during the day but alot more at night forriging playing and maybe abit frisky latley i think i dont know much about cory breeding lol

Corys do seem to be more active in the evening, night, and early morning than during the day. :D

i have found my corys prefer it when there is no light, Unless there is food going of course.

I have 3 of these little guys and they are usually out and about day or night but much more active during the evening.

have you got any plants ?
try and get some floating ones only a few (try silk first) that will shade off a small area of the tank - mine are out all day and prefer the shady areas of the tank

Its fairly open. A couple of slate caves and a plant pot and just a couple of plants. I will stick more plants in. With the floating plants, how do the cope with the flow of water at the top of the tank?

Mine are very active during the day - they're far more active if they need to look hard for their food (i.e. not overfed), and play around with each other a lot. There is one that is a little less sociable than the others, but I just recently discovered that he only has one eye. He's always seemed less sociable than the others - I think this is why.

He plays with the others a lot when they pass his way, but doesn't actively go looking for the rest of the group at all times.

My Sterbai seem shy around people, they're not at the front of the tank with the Betta and the Platys when they have an audience.

Some C. sterbai are wild caught and some are tank raised. This could account for the difference in behavior. Another thing could be the number of corys in the tank. They will usually be more active and outgoing if there is a larger number of them. :D

they just swirl around and find an area with least flow

I've got 15 Sterbais in a 100Gal. They are all over the place most of the time. In and out of cover, in and out of flow (and there's a lot of flow in the tank), lights on or off.

I want to know how they survive without any sort of rest!?! lol Mine never stop

Well weeks on, still cant get them out! Tried everything as soon as the whole room goes dark they are off around the tank, but no sight of them during the day, just all huddled up under the filter.
