Fish Crazy
I am finally ready to start my tank over after a drawn-out and rather traumatic disaster involving a landlady and a house break-in. My two remaining fish have been existing in a hospital tank for about two months. It would have been less time than that, but I had pneumonia for about a month of that. I was ready to give up on fishkeeping all together, but now that I am reasonably healthy I feel more inspired to get this thing up and running again.
I am not completely new to fishkeeping, having had a community tank in some form or other for ten years. I also had a nice little pygmy puffer tank with some gorgeous and unusual plants. I would not keep puffers again, though. They don't seem suited to fish tank life, but I did love having them. They have such great personalities.
Despite having had fish for about ten years, I feel I will need a lot of advice. I am going to try to do things a little differently this time, and I really only know about keeping a tank the way I always have. This time I am using sand, I want to try to make my arrangements more thought-out, I want to have it more heavily planted if possible, and to keep slightly different fish. I would appreciate advice and critique very much.
So, here is my tank right now. I think it is looking great!
It has been set-up for nearly 48 hours, and has only cleared up marginally. I seeded the tank sometime yesterday with my sponges from the other tank, and I am going to let that bacteria take hold for a while before I consider a water change to speed up the clearing-up process. I had black sand with my puffers, but I never had this murk problem. I really hope it doesn't last long.

I have taken some pictures with my phone. My little one has hidden the camera batteries somewhere. As you can see, it... doesn't look very good. Haha. We weren't expecting the fish to go in quite when they did, so I haven't had a chance to think things through. I am getting more plants, including a ton of riccia and probably a sword or two. Maybe more, but I don't know what that will be. I don't know what the little plants are in the front (if they are even visible in the pictures). They are survivors from the previous incarnation of my tank, so must be pretty tough. We have some nice pieces of wood that can make interesting arches, and some good rocks. These are all from the tank before. I put all of them in because we don't have much cover yet. I have always wondered what the big slab of rock with the holes in it is. Can anyone tell me? Please feel free to make arrangement suggestions as they will be gratefully received, but do remember that this stuff was just dropped in!
