Starting New Tank.... Just A Few Questions

I am going to being buying a 46 gallon bow tank on sunday 7/15 and i really want to know what i should buy first. As far as how I want to set up the tank I want to start with some live sand and a small piece of live rock along with some dead and i don't plan on buying fish for at least two to three months being that i am new. I want to know what special equipment I really need to have when i buy the tank. I don't know to much about too much and i want to do it right. So any advice will be helpful...

i guess the bare minimum would be heater, powerheads, lighting, and a skimmer. i wouldnt bother with the live sand for the reason its not really that live after sitting in a bag in a warehouse for a period of time, just plain aragonite is what most people tend to go for. i would use that money and get as much live rock to up the ratio of live rock to reef bones.
