Small question - how much do I need to put ammonia in the water? The ammonia has 9.5% ammonia solution in it.
Cheers

Don't worry about the 0.16ml =)
And I would underdose and check the levels - I put in the amount the calculator said and totally over-did it. You can always add more but getting the level down means a water change.

Cool. Great. I'll start with 7ml or so then.
Need to do some reading on checking for ammonia etc. I have some time - the aquarium stand is coming on Thursday. In the mean time can I put the sponges [they arrived] in some warm water with a drop of ammonia so I start getting the bacteria then - not to waste time kind of.
OR I better not do anything and just wait?
Putting the sponges in a bucket with ammonia will do very little. They need to fast flow of being in a filter in order to get enough ammonia and oxygen to grow bacteria.
It won't do any harm but I just don't think there is much point.
Whilst waiting for the stand to arrive and I can start the cycle, I am doing some research on what these guppies are going to start eating.
Should I keep this plan:

Will something like this keep a good balance? Read also that I shouldn't give the adults a lot of beef heart keep it to once every fortnight. Same for the yolk. Will give more beef and yolk to fry. Obviously for the fry I would try to chop it smaller.
With regards to cucumber / lettuce / heart / worm I was thinking to slice them and freeze them. Then I let them thaw from the morning and feed in the night.
The egg yaw will be mixed with water and when it comes to fry with a bit more water. The pea will be removed from it's cover kind of.
Is that a good mixture?
Another question,
will having this neon tube: http/tiny.cc/xrf3h above my aquarium, so over the hood will work? i am thinking to leave both of the glasses (as per photo above) open and then heat / light could flow in much easier. What's ur take on it? much safer than connecting the tube there no? and is it by force to have a UV blacklight? or any florescent tube is good?
link had a comma in it so it was not getting well formatted. Its a QTX light blacklight
