Hi, i'm wondering how difficult it is to get a salt water tank going. I read the article on the main page and it seems pretty extensive...I'm pretty handy. In a LFS i noticed a pvc piping system running through each salt water tank shooting out water...anyway, does anyone out there have any tips on saving money or just getting started when it comes to salt water tanks. It seems that that keeping the salt levels consistant would be difficult, as well as tempurature. Thanks!!

My bf's currently setting up his salt water, its mainly a matter of being patient. Its also high maintainence as marine fish are very fussy about water conditions, are you currently a tropical keeper?

i would say take your time, get used to caring for tropical first. then research, research, research before you begin. then get prepared to take out a loan...LOL...as it is VERY expensive. remember with each water change yo will have to add more salt to keep the levels consistant. as well as numerous other recurring costs.

wow, loan eh? maybe i'll just relax and enjoy my two puffers.......tomato and mozzerella!
