Starting a new reef tank 3 1/2 gallon.

The tank is doing great the lighting I got is just right for a nano tank it's size and stay's relatively cool... no problems yet put so mushroom's in there the other day and the are doing great... the tank is full of life and tiny creatures. I am very determind

Looking at the above articles, I have noticed that a lot of people really have to top of their tanks a lot.

wow, and i though I was adding a lot with 3 gallons a day    .

I wish I had the top off trouble you guys do. I add about ten gallons a day!!!

I only have to put in about 1 gallon a week. I understand that my tank is probably smaller than yours, but that's still much less.

Does anyone have any idea why this is?

I add about 2 to 3 gallons a week. My tanks is a 125g with a 25g sump.
I think it has allot to do with where you live (region, climate, etc.)

Erica, good for you! Hope it all goes well.

My 10 gallons a day? Well I live in a cold climate and use wood heat. This, even with a humidifier, makes the house pretty dry, but warm!

Also size comes into play. I have a 125 with a 55 for a sump, and a 100gal rubbermaid behind it for storing extra live rock and "rescued" fish. Above the rubbermaid, I have two 25 gallon grow out tanks. So this is what? About 330 gallons?

i got a yellow watchman goby he was hidding but is doing well. nano tank is doing great!.

i keep seeing that you guys put ro (i guess rverse osmosis) when u top off your tanks..i dont have a ro to top off my tank what can i do instead? i have a 30 gallon that i want to start as a reef..and if i do need a ro what would you recommend..sorry i got in this topic but i have to know thanks

They do have RO at the Grocerie stores. I get my RO their all the time, you just need to read the lables on the bottle it will say if it is RO or not.
