Hi guys,

Happy Christmas and New Year! :D

I just need a bit of advice about a new tank. I have bought my husband a new tank for Christmas as he would like a beta and our current tank has guppies. I was wondering about setting up the new tank, my plan is to do fishless cycling but I was wondering about adding the new filter media to my excising filter to help it get started? We are not in a great rush so I though this might help before starting the’ add and wait’ method?

Also the new tank is 24lt and from the research my other half has done he would like the beta and three mollies. I just want to get a bit of advice on whether this quantity would be ok for a 24lt tank?

Many thanks

Steph

Add 1/3 of the media from the old filter into the new one then do a fishless, will be much faster for you :good:

Sorry to ask this on your thread, but what else can you put with betta in that size tank.

In my experience mollies will shred a bettas fins. Endlers would be a much better choice.

Right. In a tank that size with a betta there definately is restrictions. What common fish could be kept. This is helping the OP as well I guess soo.. I'm also getting a tank of this size for a betta.

No. Don't think so. Should I? I'm ordering the fluval chi or a tank of similar size and under $50 tonight.

Why not just get a 10 gallon from like petsmart or something so you can have more fish and have a larger range of different fish to pick from

I don't want to do that because I don't want a plain rectangle. I want either a bow front, a cube, a high tank, or just something different. No bigger than 8 gallons because that's how much my desk will hold and I don't really want it to be too big.

I'm thinking just a betta and shrimp but Im wondering if I can do something else...
