looking to make a planted tank with 2 dwarf puffers, how would I go about that, I only have fake plants now and would like to go to the real plant route, mold my tank

I myself am underway with a planted tank (first time doing a planted tank) and from all the reading and advice I have recieved it seems the the main things you will need are:

- Laterite check out this link http://www.e-aquarium.com.au/laterite.htm
- Co2 set up for your size tank try something like this: http://www.aquariumguys.com/nutrafinco2.html
- Approprite lights for the growth of plants
- Fertiliser Flourish excel is great

Now there is quite a science to doing a planted tank so its a good idea if you do some reading up to understand how everything interrelates :)

I have started reading a lot on it and realize it is a bit of an undertaking. how is your tank coming what is the setup

it doesnt have to be expensive, have you already got the tank?

I have a 10gal planted tank, sand substrate and spent £12 on selection of quick growing stem plants (aim to cover 75% of sand).

With good lighting (consider upgrade to interpet 24W t5 power compact if current set up not very good, and will fit) and DIY Co2 (see pinned thread). Add some sort of plant gro solution once a week and simply trim excessive growth, replant cuttings and withing couple months will fill out nicely, and hopefully with no algae! A a couple amano shrimp to look after things for a while, and soon will have a nice home for a couple dwarf puffers
