I have a trigon 190 which i set up over 2weeks ago.

The water is still "cioudy" after all this time.

Could there be something wrong with the filter or am impatient?

Would welcome any feeback!

First try cleaning the filter foams with water from the tank, if that doesn't work you may want to try a water change. You can also buy extra fine filter foam and nutrafin sell a "clear fast" product that will clean water. Hope this helps, I had the same problem so know how frustrating it can be.

Happened to me, 50% water change did the trick, cleared after a couple of more days

I'm still a newbie, but when I "accidentally" didn't rinse my flourite substrate enough, my tank looked like a bowl of chocolate milk. I bought some Fluval Water Polishing pads. Within 24 hours in my HOB filter, the water was clear. There is also a product called Clarity by Seachem. Since my cloudiness was due to the substrate, it helped. The polishing pads are great, though. If that doesn't work, you obviously have a different problem going on. I've read decaying materials/food will cause cloudiness, as well as not cycling your tank properly. Could be a bacterial bloom. I think water changes are the only thing that helps those along. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

you dont say how your cycling this tank, fish in or fishless using ammonia, i doubt there is anything wrong with your filter, what substrate are you using did you wash it properly

thanks "LD" for the above advice. I gave the substrate what i thought was a good rinse. i will try the pads.

"Phoenixgsd" - currently all i have done if use tap safe - and running the filter. I havent used ammonia yet, the guy in the shop said not to use it yet!! I havent put any fish in. I just using a common coloured gravel which i washed through.

i reccomend you start cycling your tank with ammonia ASAP, its already been just sat there doing nothing benificial for 2 weeks, dont worry about the water clarity at the moment, you will probably experience and bacterial bloom anyway, turning the water 'really' murky which will clear itself, read the link in my signature of cycling, dont bother with water clearing solutions/pads at the moment nor any miracle filter starters in a bottle (they dont normally work), just get the cycle started with ammonia and invest in a API master test kit to monitor how your cycle is going, the sooner you do this the sooner you can get your fish

Thanks phoenixgsd. I'll get some ammonia on order and get going with that. Apprecaite the advice.
