Hey,
So I purchased a 10g tank today (as a Q tank), but I wasn't willing to dish out 50 bucks for a stand. So, I was wondering if any of you guys have a schematic or blue print for one? Or just give me step by step details. I am not the best at building things, but I can sure try! Any help would be appreciated!

The simplest stand that I have for a 10 gallon tank is a sheet of 1/2 inch plywood slightly larger than the base of the tank and simply laid across the top of a file cabinet. The plywood gives proper support to the bottom trim of the tank and the file cabinet is strong enough to hold it up, even though its strong points don't match up with where it is needed on the tank bottom. I have that set up for about 3 years now with no troubles.

Thanks old man! I am thinking more of an actual aquarium stand. I don't have anything I ca put the tank on, except the floor, and that make's water changes hard to do!

How about another simple design, a couple of concrete blocks with the sheet of ply on top?
I do build real stands but you said simple and easy. I have a link in my signature to a stand that I built, much too complex for your needs. It might give you some hints on construction concepts though.

I would be all for that, but it needs to be aesthetically pleasing as possible. So my mom doesn't shoot me.

By the time you purchase about $10 in wood, hardware & stain you could probably find two older sturdy nightstands for that price. Garage sale season is just around the corner, there are bargains to be found. A buddy of mine used mostly that when he had an apartment, some were found free, some for a few dollars.

I have a few night stands downstairs that work great for end tables, and easily hold a 20h, great for fishroom remodeling, emergency overstock, and so on. With a couple of drawers for storage they hide the usual household junk, and could easily be used for aquatic items.

Being actual furniture it would keep mom happy, and make your job easier to boot.

That's a great idea John! I am in desperate need of a stand! Water changes are gong to be next to impossible since there is no gravity to use while siphoning.
