I've just joined your forum and after some help/advice allready.

I have kept fish before a few years ago and have even kept a reef tank for a year (Aqua Medic Perc 90 heavily modded/changed) with no losses and excellent growth on corals etc but had to give it all up due to being in the forces and having to go away allot. I am now ready to start over again.

I am looking at getting a tank of about 4' x 2' x 2' to go in my lounge but for this to be cared for by the wife as well it needs to be on a nice looking stand. I have looked at ones by kent cabinets and like the look but they seem quite expensive and I have no idea of the quality. So basically i am after your guys advice for the quality and on other tanks/stands or weather any of you have made a similar stand.

So any ideas please, please post

Cheers, Greg

hi yeah i know they are a bit exspencive
i used to have a 8ftx2ftx2ft tank i built my own stand out of 2inchx2inch wood bolted it into the wall used ply wood for the top with underlay for the tank to stand on, for the front i used laminate flooring then round the edging i put 10mm x 40mm pse then stuck it on ,i turned it in to molding by cutting squares out and sticking them on to the 10mmx40mm pse then varnished it it looked really nice i built my lid the same way with 5inchx10mm pse and the molding on the edging then put some molding on the sides of my tank so it all joind togetter and it looked really good i no longer have the tank so i carnt put any pics on sorry

but im geting a 4ftx2ftx2ft tank in about 2-3 weeks and ill be doing it all the same coz it looked really good and not to exspencive either
ill put pics on from start to finish when i start my project

Sounds good. I will be looking forward to seeing that. Not too sure if my DIY skills are up to it though

I have read that and I am comtemplating doing this but I am not sure if my DIY skillls are up to scratch

For now I will keep looking for a pre built one or a cheap second hand one that suits me.
