Right I need some of your expertise in D.I.Y

What I need to know is basically everything, lol!

I would like to build a 2 1/2 foot stand for my 2' x 1' x 1' tank, and i would like it to have a under storage part.

Like this:
diagram-1.jpg

Numbers Mean:
1= 2ft x 1ft x 1ft Tank.
2= Fish Net Compartment.
3= Fish Net.
4= Supplies/Food Compartment.
5= Supplies/Food.
6= 1ft x 1ft x 1ft Compartment.
7= 1ft x 1ft x 1ft Tank.

Sorry about my appauling paint skills, it was just a quick diagram to show what I'd like.

So first things first, the stand :)
Basically if you D.I.Yers could tell me what equipment/materials, how many bits and what length and thickness etc that would be brilliant.

2nd Part:

I would like to give a go at making my own fish tank, the 1ft x 1ft x 1ft fish tank, as places dont do them to those sizes, unless I ask which I think would be cheaper if I made it myself, so like the questions for the stand, I'll need to know those exact same things for the 1ft x 1ft x 1ft tank aswell.

Thanks for any replies I get.
Much appreciated.

There is a sticky in the DIY section called 'Basic guide to building a tank', so you can read that for part 2 of your question.

As for part 1, I'm not so sure. I probably could guide you as to how to make an ordinary household cabinet, however I am unsure about making cabinets for fish tanks, in that water is damn heavy, and as a result there maybe special considerations required. Maybe somebody can chime in on that point?

Like your diagram though, especially as you went to the effort of drawing a fish net :)

Can't help much but... make sure you have enough room for your filter(s).

Nice drawing. :)
