Ok - in that case I can only get a 200 as it seems the 300 is only in 16mm

I still used the 300 in one of my tanks, but had to rig a larger piece of clear tubing with a couple of hose clamps. The short piece of tubing went over the connector on the heater, then my filter tubing went inside that larger piece, and it's held on with the hose clamps.

Yea, Bigger tanks have the 16/22 fitting is why they only make the 300w in 16/22

i had my current heater click really loud, i couldn' figure it out. I had my heater horizontal in my tank and i turned it vertical and i haven't heard a noise since.. I don't know why it was making that noise but like i said its gone now

Is this a Hydor also?

No mine is an Aqueon
 
are there any other brands besides hydor that makes inline heaters?

A note of caution on a 300w heater on such a small tank.
if the thermostat sticks on, a common problem with any type of heater, it will cook your fish, and fast too!
 
now hydors are very reliable but faults can happen

I've ordered a 200w, decided I didn't want to play around with different sized connectors etc. I will just have to upgrade if/when I need to! Thanks for all your advice, much appreciated,
