Do you mean to test your KH and GH? Or to see if the water is safe...?

To see if water is safe...if strips aren't accurate .. and PetSmart is 30 min Away to test water all time 2 tanks ..I'm just wondering if there's an easier method or tool

You want to test spring or well water to make sure it doesn't have any chemicals or agricultural runoff in it. You can do the basics at home (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH, GH and KH), but a lab is usually required to check for harmful substances that might have contaminated the water source.

Who would drink water from a river? (Unless you had a LifeStraw)

I guess in some places it’s safe to drink. My creek is so muddy and it’s full of limestone.
