I added 2 clown loaches to my tank last week. All are doing great but after a water change on Thursday I notice yesterday that the 2 Clowns are covered in white spot.
The water was more or less the same temp and was treated. Im presuming the clowns must have got stressed. Any 1 any ideas?

And After reading on here about using half the stated dose when it comes to Clowns I treated the tank. It turns out that some of my neons have caught it as well. Im wondering is half the stated dose enough for the tank. The 2nd dose goes in on Tuesday. Is it enough do you think, or will I have to give a third dose next week as well.

Clowns are very prone to whitespot. They can sit in the LFS for weeks and show nothing then as soon as you get them home they are covered in them.

There are alot of medications which can have a negative affect on certain fish such as clown and therefore it is always wise to follow the half dose rule unless otherwise stated on the bottle. Turning the temp up a little will help to accelerate the ich cycle and therefore reducing the length of time needed to use meds but be sure to have pleanty of airation as heat lowers oxygen levels.

I know someone who lost all their clown loaches because they had velvet and not ich, please be 100% sure. -_-

sorry to ask a really dumb question, but how would I know the difference between velvet and whitespot. Im pretty sure its WS as the Neons have it.

The half dose will be fine so??? ie half dose is sufficent
