so like the title says, i have small spots of green algae ALL over my glass and i cant scrub it off, and my snails cant get it off either, and its becoming a big annoyance because i can barely see inside my tank

also i have small-big spots of purple, im guessing its coraline algae but i just wanted to know if its good or bad or what i should do if i should do anything about it, its all over my tank

so if you know how to get it off, or what will, or what it is, or ANY help with these problems, thanks.

Yeah the purple is coraline and is fine, I would recommend running a magfloat over your glass once a day to make sure it doesnt grow on the view sides though (make sure you dont get a cheap magfloat as they can scratch the hell out of your glass as I found out :( ).

For the algae trying using a plastic credit card (one without a chip in it :) ). You can (if your very careful and you have a glass tank not acrylic) use a razor blade. Just make sure you keep the edge flat on the glass and dont press to hard.

I have always used a mag-float for the general covering but for the tough green stuff i avoid using any thing that may cause damage to the glass. I always find it best to use stiff bristle toothe brush and using my finger (providing yiou can reach in to your tank) push on the bristles themselves. This means i can scrub the glass without risk of damaging the glass or acrylic.

illl try the cradit card but my tank is pretty deep, and i wont be able to get past 1/2 through, i probably shouldnt try the sharp metal stuff, im not very good at being careful lol

and i have a magfloat but it doesnt do anything to the green spots...

You could try the toothbrush methods as this can give you and extra couple of inches reach, plus of you drop it it floats a good thing, but if you can't reach, but as your tank is deep use a a larger version say a small stiff bristle back scrubber (You may laugh but its an idea) may do the trick but need one with a good handle just in case you need to scrub hard (Don't want it to snap). and use the smaller toothbrush for the top part of the tank.

Toothbrushes are generally handy to have the swiss army knife of the aquarium as they are good for cleaning almost mosts parts of a tank and equipment from skimmer collection cups, combe filters and stirring up substrate (If you can reach LOL) and also make excellent hair algea collectors as the bristles geab the hair nicley

If you're on my side of the Pond, look for the Kent Algae Scraper, thing works like a charm on coraline (green or purple ;))

yeah, i have one, just wondering if it was only sold over the pond how id managed to get hold of one
