My betta eats fine normally. He makes bubble nests normally and is seemingly active. But occassionally, he spits up all his food at once. What I mean by this is that he eats normally everyday (I feed him 2-3 pellets a day), but then randomly every two weeks or so, I will notice balls of pellets (that have been eaten) all over the bottom of his tank. I've never actually seen him spit them up--I just notice something like 20 pellets all over the bottom of the tank all of a sudden one day. This is weird and I'm wondering if he's sick even though he seems fine. Can anyone help me out? What's wrong w/ my betta? :(

sounds like a digestive problem, how long has he been doing this? if he's been doing this for a long time at this point and it doesn't seem to be bothering him it'll be ok, but if hes just started doing this then purhaps u should starve him for a week and try giveing him peas, they are good on his digestion. may i ask what kind of food you are feeding him?

Just to make sure not the writer of this information below.

Spitting- This is almost always from an advanced infestation of flukes. But you should do the following 2 things:

(1) Capture the fish, and do an oral exam looking for an ulcer, check the gills for swelling, paleness, white streaks around the edges of the gill or through the gill tissue, or any kind of foreign body (rock, pebble, etc.).

(2) Scrape the gill and examine under a microscope for flukes.

Does this information have to do with spitting all at once or right after he eats? It looks like it only means for spitting immediately after eating. That information is probably not applicable especiallysince he still looks perfectly healthy without any swelling or paleness, etc.

Thanks for all the good advice guys. I will start starving him today and then feed him some mashed peas as suggested.

i thought i had some peas at home, but it just turned out to be some frozen corn. will feeding him corn do as well for his digestive system? what exactly is it in peas that help a beta fish's digestive system?

CORN? Do you know what happens with it in your idgestive system? It dosen't always get fully digested. Go out and buy some peas. Don't give him any corn.
