Recently one of my goldfish seems to have developed “something”.

Best way to describe it is like swim bladder (and it may even be that). You it’s taken to occasionally flipping upside down and swimming in a spiral downwards (and getting upset), and then it’ll right itself and be ok. It’s been happening for a month or so and I assumed it was a one off but I’ve notice the poor thing doing it a bit more often.

Is it swim bladder? Is it treatable? What can I do?

The fish is otherwise eating and swimming fine.

Nothing new has been added to the tank for at least a year except for some silk plants.

Tank size 45 gallons, other inhabitants…other goldfish.

The fish in question is about 2 years old (we’ll I’ve had it almost that long anyway).

EDIT: I've been doing a bit of reading and is it possible the fish may have whirling disease? if so I guess I need to move it ASAP :(

Since you've not added anything to your tank I would really doubt that it is whirling disease as the parasite would need a way of getting into the tank. It sounds more like swim bladder tbh I would treat the fish as if it had swim bladder and see how that works.

When I get fish that are bloated/have swin bladder, I boil a few peas and take them out of the shells. Then break them into fish size pieces (could just be half if your goldfish is large) and feed a few peas (One in the morning, one at night).

That will aid digestion and will clear his stomach from any nasties.

That is a relief. I'll try peas and see how it goes.
