Hello,
I noticed this morning with the lights on that in my tank there were three areas that had what looked like spider web material in my aquarium that is housing one betta.

One was connected between a silk plant and a live Westeria plant (about 2 inches long), the other was on the other side of Westeria plant (3 cm in length). I think I see a small one on a silk one as well (about a cm in length). It also had some white substance clinging to the web like material.

Does anyone know what this could be?

Thanks in advance for any info!

Maybe you have an aquatic spider? ;)
J/k... such a thing does exist, but I doubt that's it... I don't know what it could be

most likely hair algae or something like that
I used to have a 5 gallon with a betta in it and woke up one morning and thought there was a spider in there!

Hello,
Thanks for your input. Maybe it's algae. How can I keep it under control or get rid of it? Sorry, this is the first aquarium I've owned.

Thanks again.

A visit by Spidey? Maybe he'd been gobbled up by your betta.

Anyway, to answer your question, TetraAqua® Black Water inhibits the growth of algae when used regularly. It creates a healthy environment for fish and turns the water brownish, reducing the penetration of light.

I love Spidey. His character is so filled with angst and constant self-doubt, revealing the human soul within a super-human.

"No matter what I do. No matter how hard I try. The ones I love will always be the ones who pay."

"With great power comes great responsibility. This is my gift... my curse."

I enjoyed the train sequence in Spider-Man 2 best. For dialogue, I'll never forget the conversation between Spidey and the stranger during that brief (and awkward) moment in the elevator.

Anyway, before I deviate from the topic too much, I'd like to add that the Indian Almond (Ketapang) Leaf has similar qualities with Black Water.

The picture with Spidey shows my plakats undergoing Ketapang therapy.

I guess the female had a friendly web-shooting neighbour... Spider-Betta!!!

Hi,

It sounds like a slime mould, which are simple, fungi-like amoeboid organisms. These aren't harmful and they often originate from bogwood or live plants, however it may be best to remove it.
