Aww... Its a good thing to actually rescue cats and other animals, not buying them where most people buy them as toys and the animals end up somewhere else if not on the streets.
Most of my dogs over the years were rescues too, in fact many of my fish years ago were rescues also when my daughters were in college and would bring home fish for me to take care of. Fish were the only animal allowed in the dorms and they would rescue them when students couldn't take care of them or left them behind.

You're a good person I'll say. People rescuing fish are good people

Out of all the cats I’ve owned in my life, only 1 wasn’t a rescue. My last one was found in the trash when she was about 3 weeks old. Covered in fleas. We bathed her and fed her some milk and egg. She just went limp and I told my son she probably wasn’t going to make it. She fooled me. We had her 21 years. She diEd in my bed a couple of years ago while I was at work. I just can’t replace her. :(

That's an amazing age for a cat, they normally don't live that long.
I know. Funny thing is she only went to the vet once in her life and that was to get spayed. She would sit at the door and jump up to try and turn the knob. Then she would look back at you to let her out. She was a smart cat. I loved my Katy the kitty. :)
