Hello there
Some types of catfish have barbles way too delicate for regular nets, as you know. You could use a very fine, soft net for them, but you'll still have to be careful. Certain cats have short barbles (plecos, cories, etc) that are OK to catch with a regular fish net.
Any non-sucker mouth catfish is going to want a bit of meaty food in their diet. I don't suggest feeder fish because too many can cause health problems and you also run the risk of having the catfish refuse anything but live food. That can get costly. It's always fun to try a large range of different foods with your fish (catfish or other).
Other than that, catfish are very hardy (especially plecos) and most are not too picky about pH or hardness. Even so, try to keep all parameters around their appropriate level, with nitrite and amonia always reading 0.
I'm sure there's a bunch of other stuff since I touched on catfish in general and not just syno petricola alone. Others should come along and fill in details that digital and I have left out. In the mean time, just google the fish you're curious about and read up a bit yourself.
Enjoy your new catfish!
