Aww they're sooo cute!! I was at a wal*mart once and overheard a customer asking an employee about the bettas, asking why some of the fish had shorter fin and were so much "uglier" then the rest (it was females they were talking about) and the employee says "Oh they're just deformed" well u can imagine how quickly I spoke up! and asked to see the manager because they're employees obviously know NOTHING about fish. Sorry for ranting, lol. And congrats on the gorgeous girlies, I'm sure they're very happy with their new home!!

yeah

i forgot to say that some lady in line asked me what kind of fish i had in the cups

i said bettas shes like oh

whats wrong with them..i said their females..she said oh..males are way prettier

i was like

but i think females are cuteeee :D

Yeh, it's those flashy males that get all the publicity but where would they be without the humbler females??? I think the females are just as gem-like as the males, without being quite so ostentatious. They are usually also easier to take care of (not so much fin rot). If you can get a bunch of them of different colors in the same tank together, it's like a rainbow. I like watching the interaction between female fish too.

I'm glad my WalMart doesn't sell females. That's less fish they torture. Though those are some very nice females there.

The last time I was at wal-mart they had their only female in a tank full of puffers. I didn't have any money on me or I would of bought her. :-(

Wait, are cheese cake and cherry in the same bowl? Was the damage on cherry's caudal fin caused by cheese cake?

I love female bettas! Here's an example of why - My males are always pouty when I first bring them home and go on their little hunger strikes. I've never had a girl that didn't eat on the first day. I can just imagine the girls looking at the boys and saying, "Oh just get over yourself or give me your food already!" Even if the females aren't as fancy as the males, I think they are much more attractive than many other tropicals with way more personality. I just wish they wouldn't only get compared to the males, but to all other smallish tropicals.

nooo

when i got her, the fin was already torn

cheese cake and cherry get along very very well and neither of them have ever flared at the other

neither of them show signs of aggression or dominance

*cherry is the bigger of the 2*

they are both very happy and i have taken many pictures and its hard to get a shot of one and not the other

they are inseperable :D
