Hey
Well last night I left my female and male CT's in the breeding tank. The male was the one who has never made a bubble nest for me before. Today I have a full nest!!! but i cant tell if there are eggs in it... I wasn't here last night to watch....
The female looks skinier!! I dont want to disturb the nest by trying to look for eggs.
What should I be looking for... The male tending the nest? Do eggs drop out often??

thanks

He should defend the nest like crazy if there are eggs in there and will chase the female away. The eggs normally fall from the nest quite freely as Bettaman says so that's another good sign.

Good luck with your spawn.

False alarm,
No eggs yet but I'm glad to see he is in the mood to make a nest.
I don't understand why my female looks so thin now :dunno:

If this happens again get a flashlight and shine it up in the nest, you should be able to see eggs if they are there. I think the nest looks "thicker" too especially if he put the eggs together in a clump and not just randomly

I hope her eggs didn't get eaten

I did a water change today cuz they are pooping like crazy!
The male is strutting like crazy but the female runs from him a lot.

This is her and him just a few minutes ago, her crowns aren't the longest

Well if she looks thin enough that you noticed, and they are pooping alot....that would signify to me that one, or both, of them ate the eggs. -_-

How long you have conditioning both? 3 weeks to a month? It seems like the belly is still small althought she looks ready. The breeding process will began after 16 hours from my experience of breeding my betta. So they should be ready soon. Did she flooding a lot at the top without moving? Did the male keep getting her attention like wanting her to get into his nest? Did the male swim close to her and back into his nest? If yes, she is not laying eggs yet and soon will. :D

To SRC: I am have been feeding them since yesterday, thats when i put them back in.

To Yeevia: They have been conditioned for a lil over 3 weeks. Yes she sometimes stays still at the top and he will come up to her and waggle sideways to her. Sometimes she flares w/ him but mostly runs away. He usually struts out in the open.. near where his nest is....

OK. That is mean she is not laying eggs yet. Just be patient and let them finished up their work. :) It might takes another day. Remember, do not fed the pair. :) you don't want the water get dirty. :D
