How do you make a spawning mop please?

I want to put my 12 pygmys into their own tank but i need to wait a few months until my livebearer fry have all grown up etc, then i can use the filter etc for a new 10 gal set up for breeding pygmys.

Until then i was hoping to encourage the pygmys to lay eggs on a spawning mop, because the tank is 55 gals,it's hard to spot any small eggs,a couple of the females seem quite large and i'm wondering if they are carrying eggs?

Would this work for the time being? any advice would be greatly appreciated :)

Thanks

Hi Harlequins :)

If you know how to make a tassel you already know how to make a spawning mop. If you want it to float, just push a cork through the top section and you are ready to go. The length and size will depend on what you like. Just be certain to use good quality wool that will not have dye running from it. Make it as long and full as you think you will need. :)

Hello, just type " how to make a spawning mop" in Google and it will show you in picture form the steps.

Thanks rugar :)- i was just typing spawning mop with little success, but i know how to make a tassel and have done so,just trying to hunt down a cork

Could you use floating plants? Like a big clump of them. something like a clump of Hornwart floating on the top. a good clump of java moss attached to something that float would work. My corys love the Java moss its my pandas favourite place to hide eggs. It sinks if not on something that floats.

I thought about floating plants, but they don't seem to have any java moss or hornwart around by me at the moment typical...
