spawn or not?

rite just scanned bottom of tank under nest, difficult to say, as gravel is making a tad hard to tell.

how long should i wait to find out for sure if there are eggs present, before starting from beginning again?

oh my...I don't think it's generally recommended to have gravel in there. -_-

That is going to make it very hard on daddy to pick them up once they drop down. (I've watched pellets and they don't just lay on top they always manage to slide down underneath the gravel)

i was informed that having any sort of gravel, soil etc etc on bottom of tank is optional. and as i dont like have a plain bottomed tank i put gravel in.
mayb next time i shall try it without.

thanx

Gravel is big no no........If eggs rot then can get stuck in the gravel when fry are dropping they can get stuck inbetween gravel and die :byebye: and makes it hard for dad

Youc an try to siphon some but be careful

have just managed to get most of the gravel out. just the odd bit still on the bottom, but all moved away from near nest area. he did not like me doing it, but tis done now. did not disturb nest at all.

Sorry, i misread. I thought you had like, a colony of girls in the tank. My bad. :)

hmmmm.

hmmmm.

I missed a lot while I ran to the store  Too bad ya didn't disturb the nest just a bit. perhaps a jiggle and a shake to see if any eggs fall. But really, if you didn't see any eggs fall from the nest at all...there might not be any in there. Seems at least a couple should have fallen with all that action in there.

remove the females anyway as if they have there will be fry in three days and you cant miss them with a torch, if they havnt the put one of the females back in and then watch them as he would have missed the female and will possibley want to spawn ..........

To be safe, I would take out the females, and let the male do his thing. If there are eggs in there, you will have fry in about another 24 hrs. If you don't, then there weren't any eggs.

When you shine the flashlight, you will see alot of clear bubbles. THat is the nest. If you see any white dots, those are eggs. They become almost clear as it becomes time to hatch.

hi

over night he has built a larger nest, have looked on the bottom of tank for eggs, n to b honest not 100% sure although will be closly watching through out today. will let you all know later today. thank you all for your help and advice.

hi all,

rite during the day, he has been tending to nest and swimming about a bit, most of his time is spent under the nest.
i have noticed a couple of things fall from the nest but they just floated back up to nest?
as for any on bottom of tank cant really tell.
when i shine a lite on the nest, i see hundreds of bubbles, some clear some not so clear.
will leave him alone but keep my eyes peeled on what is going on in there.
