Spawn Number Two!

Hey,

Being brave and doing two spawns at the same time! I currently have about 10 fry from my green HM pair who are now two days old and swimming well

The other pair im spawning are my melano HMs Have been trying for about 3 days to get them to spawn but the male had NO clue what he was doing. He made a lovely bubblenest, flared at the female in her container and she was ready to spawn so i let her out... The he did nothing.. at all She clearly wanted to But he was just swimming around occassionally flaring at her..

SO, back in her container she went, and i put a male in another tank next to the spawn tank, and it worked! Let the female out this afternoon after about 24 hours and they finally spawned!!

No pics of the spawning as they didn't come out But i'll attach some pics of the pair Looks to be a lot of eggs so fingers crossed they all hatch!

Oh, I bet those make some beautiful babies..that steel female is awesome..nice tail on her.

Yeah, they're a lovely pair The male did have a nip at the females tail during the spawning so im going to have to keep an eye on her. I've put some salt in her tank and she's had some bloodworms and seems fine so there shouldn't be any problems

The male isn't being a very good dad unfortunately He seems to have forgotten that he has a nest full of eggs and is just swimming around through the plants and stuff. He occasionally has a check back at the bubblenest, but he doesn't seem that bothered Hopefully he'll be a bit better if/when the eggs hatch!

ive had a male like yours only looks after the nest now and then but always on the look out for other males of anything that could harm his nest .
