hi guys, just wanted to say something weird regarding my current spawn  The fish embraced this morning, and 12 hours after i saw hte first embrace, both parents have been removed. Needless to say the eggs wont' hatch for another 24 hours or so, but i hope they pull through becuase dad was eating all of them  i took him out in hopes to try and keep the other ones from being eaten. gotta go pick up some antifungal medication..what do you guys recommend? methalyne blue or maroxy?

another weird thing is that i SAW A FRY! is it even possible for them to hatch this soon? but i swear it was a fry! not free swimming, but hatched. :/ i'll be constantly blowing hte eggs with a syringe, and i did a quick spyhon to take out all the poop and other things that were in the tank.

heard good water movement is suppose to decrease the chances of fungas right? unfourantely i can't turn on the filter too much or the nest will blow apart

i dunno about the fry -_- but do u think it was possible they embraced, had eggs, and took them to the nest where a couple hatched when u wernt looking? lol i dunno.

go with mythalyne

hmm i doubt it as i dont see any other bubblenest ohter htan the one...

ARGH

daddy had eggs in his mouth!

man, these guys drive me nuts

okay,

anyways i was trying to say...i dont' see any other bubblenests, or any other eggs (i spent a lto of time looking :/)

well it seems like daddy spit out whatever eggs was in his mouth (only a few thankfully, few like 5), i have scooped them out and put them back on the nest in the breeding tank. Difficult. There are a few eggs laying on the bottom of the tank...which i have tried to suck up and put back on the nest, and it never works.

That's the thing i hate about breeding, each spawn is so differnet...and by doing this i have either killed my spawn or saved it from being in daddy's stomach.

daddy is back in his own tank, flaring and freaking ouat the other males. There are eggs in the nest, the sponge filter is on..there are a few stray eggs on the surface of the water. Btw the parents embraced in less than 24 hours, it was quick one.

gee i hope this wroks

fry can survive on the bottom of the tank, no need to be syphoning them back up.. have u had probs with fungus on eggs before? anyways, i find jungle fungus eliminator to either work well or kill the fish lol.. its pretty strong compared to other fungus meds

i can't put anythign strong into the tank as the fry will hatch and be very sensitive to the medication.

As for the eggs at the bottom of the tank, i'm not worried about the fry hatching from it, i know they can live on the bottom. but i'm afraid fungas will hit them before they even hatch, since fungas likes to eat everything that donse't move  the faster they hatch and go free swimming the safer they will be

i'm keeping a very close eye on these guys, so far i got 5 stray eggs that's circuatling on teh surface of the tank by the sponge filter, i asusme the movement can't be bad. I'm lowering the water level very slowly by syphoning out crap and balls of fungas or whatever those are whenever i can.

There seems to be a lot of eggs left in the nest still, hopefully by tmr morning i can see the litlte fry developing in there. Very cool thing to watch :shifty:

still wondering how i have a single hatched fry though  who, by the way was sucked up by the syphon and replaced back into the tank, he's not even free swimming yet! but he made it, and hes' very mucha live :)

Use him again, but feed him an extra amount of food and see what happens then.

well here's an update of the eggs 12 hours after.

most of the nest has been destoryed and i see a lot of eggs just floating on the surface of hte water. in fact over half hte eggs are dong this. I stopped the sponge filter bcuase it was making htem sink.

Theres aobut 10% of hte eggs laying at the bottom of the tank, and notice a few have caught on the deadly fungas

I've tried my best to swirl them around but obvously i dont' have anything that can really bring them up the surface like ab etta's mouth.

there are a lot of eggs, it's been 24 hours now and i hope to see the embryo developmetn soon

gp: i do plan to use this male again, last time i had a very sucessful spawn with him (never was much an egg eater...) lets see if i can raise this batch without daddy :p
